Bette Midler to be honoured

Bette Midler is to receive an honour for her musical talents

Bette Midler's voice has helped turn songs like Wind Beneath My Wings into classics, and now she'll be honoured for that gift.

The singer, comedienne and actress is set to receive the Sammy Cahn Lifetime Achievement Award at the Songwriters Hall of Fame on June 14 in New York.

The organisation's chairman, Jimmy Webb, says Midler "captivated the world" with her "stylish presentation and unmistakable voice, making each song her own".

Past Sammy Cahn recipients include Dick Clark, Neil Diamond and Tony Bennett.

The Songwriters Hall of Fame is inducting Bob Seger, Gordon Lightfoot, Don Schlitz, Harvey Schmidt and Tom Jones, and Jim Steinman this year.

Gemini:

You never do anything in moderation. Attend every fun party, accept every juicy offer and try all the delectable treats spread before you. Avoid unpleasant people and activities like the plague. This should be a time of enjoyment. Leave your list of chores at home. You can always attend to these jobs at another time. If you have a chance to show your creative work to a publisher, manager or agent, go ahead. This is also a great opportunity to go on job interviews, auditions and first dates.More
