Bieber's Baby gets diamond status

Justin Bieber's hit single Baby has made musical history by achieving Diamond status.

The Canadian pop star's breakthrough hit - released in March 2010 - has become the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) best selling digital single ever.

Justin replied to the RIAA's announcement on Twitter saying: "thank u so much . #honored. #History #diamond".

Justin's manager Scooter Braun tweeted a picture of the diamond certificate award, with a giant diamond shaped crystal on it.

He presented it to the singer along with a massive hug.

A fan tweeted a picture of the emotional moment and said: "Aww, Justin and Scooter when he was presenting Justin with the RIAA Diamond Award for 'Baby'. #proud."

The Digital Single Award certification was created in May this year and Baby is the first to go diamond.

The song has gone 12 times platinum in the US and has sold 3.9 million digital copies as well as racking up 876 million views on VEVO.
