Billy Joel is said to be recovering after double hip-replacement surgery.
The singer's spokeswoman Claire Mercuri said Billy, behind such hits as Piano Man, Uptown Girl and New York State Of Mind, was "doing extremely well" after the operation.
She told People magazine the 61-year-old pop star had both hips replaced last week to correct a congenital condition.
Billy toured this year and was recently promoting the documentary film The Last Play At Shea. There was no word on when he planned to perform on stage again.
