Blythe wore earplugs for Coldplay

Blythe Danner used to wear earplugs to listen to Coldplay

Gwyneth Paltrow's mother Blythe Danner has revealed she used to wear earplugs to son-in-law Chris Martin's gigs.

The 69-year-old Meet The Fockers star - who stars in new film The Lucky One with Zac Efron - told The Daily Mail she is a big Coldplay fan, but admitted she had to wear earplugs to watch them perform at first.

Blythe said: "I'm mostly a jazz fan and I've never really been into rock 'n' roll music - although I guess Coldplay isn't really rock 'n' roll - but he's made me a convert.

"I do go to their concerts whenever we're in the same town and I don't even have to wear earplugs any more, which I did in the beginning."

Her comments come as Chris Martin revealed that years of playing live has left him with tinnitus, a condition which can leave people with a buzzing or ringing in their ears, so he now protects his own ears when performing.

Blythe added she is a huge fan of her son-in-law and is pleased he has taught her grandchildren Apple, seven, and Moses, six, "good English manners".

She said: "Oh, Chris is wonderful and he's so good with their children.

"I wasn't there from the beginning of their relationship, but when I finally met him, I thought he was really wonderful.

"He wrote the song Fix You for Gwyneth when her father died and I weep every time I hear it."

This isn't a good time to make travel plans. Weather conditions and work responsibilities have a way of wreaking havoc with your schedule. Wait another few days before putting down a hefty deposit. Working behind the scenes will yield significant rewards. If someone asks you to serve as their assistant, go ahead and accept. The pay will be excellent and there will be a lot of fringe benefits, too. Don't talk about a neighbour's private life in mixed company.More
