Bon Jovi head international tours

Bon Jovi was the highest grossing touring act in the world in 2013

American rock band Bon Jovi have beaten some major British artists to record the biggest international tour of the year, attracting more than two million fans to their 90 sell-out shows.

Named after front man Jon Bon Jovi, the band raked in 205,158,370 US dollars (£126 million) during the tour, which was seen by 2,178,170 people.

Rock legends The Rolling Stones topped Billboard's Top 25 Tours of 2013 list for the British acts, coming in at number six after grossing 126,182,391 US dollars (£77.5 million) and drawing 326,998 fans to their 23 sell-out shows.

Other British, or part-British bands, to make the list included Depeche Mode at number nine, Pink Floyd's Roger Waters (11), boy band One Direction (12), The Beatles' Paul McCartney (16), Fleetwood Mac (17) and heavy metal band Iron Maiden at 25.

Cirque Du Soleil's Michael Jackson The Immortal World Tour, P!nk, Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band and Rhianna rounded out the top five.

Pop stars Taylor Swift (7), Justin Bieber (13) and Lady Gaga (22) all made the cut. American country music singers also featured prominently, with Kenny Chesney at 10, Jason Aldean at 21 and Luke Bryan at 24.

Dutch violinist Andre Rieu was the only classical musician only the list, claiming 20th spot after raking in 49,983,266 dollars (£30.7 million) during his 70 performances.
