Bon Jovi's girl in heroin overdose

Jon Bon Jovi's daughter was taken to hospital

The 19-year-old daughter of rock star Jon Bon Jovi is in hospital after overdosing on heroin in a dormitory at her college in New York, authorities said.

Town of Kirkland Police said an ambulance was sent to Hamilton College after a report that a female had apparently overdosed on heroin.

Investigator Peter Cania said Stephanie Bongiovi, of Red Bank, New Jersey, is recovering at a hospital he declined to name.

Police said Ms Bongiovi and 21-year-old Ian Grant, also of Red Bank, have been charged with drug possession. Both were issued with tickets and ordered to appear in court at a later date. The musician's representative was not available for comment.

Bon Jovi is scheduled to perform at a benefit concert for Hamilton in Times Square on December 5.
