Carly Rae Jepsen's number one hit Call Me Maybe has been named the song of the summer in the US.

Billboard said the 16-year-old Canadian's infectious pop song about infatuation topped its Songs of Summer chart.

The list annually ranks the overall performance of hit songs on the Billboard Hot 100 between Memorial Day and Labour Day.

Landing at number two was Maroon 5's Payphone, featuring Wiz Khalifa. Gotye's Somebody That I Used to Know, featuring Kimbra, Katy Perry's Wide Awake and Ellie Goulding's Lights make up the rest of the top five.

Call Me Maybe has already netted Carly Rae a Teen Choice Award, and the video is up for the best new artist moonman trophy at the MTV Video Music Awards.

It's sometimes difficult for a retiring person like you to showcase your talent. You are tired of being eclipsed by pushy rivals. By showing your work to the right people, you can finally gain the fame and acclaim you deserve. Fortunately, an influential friend, neighbour or colleague can set up an interview or introduction. An important executive or critic will be impressed by your efforts. If you're offered an unpaid position as an intern or apprentice, take it. This will lead to professional opportunities you couldn't find through other channels.More
