Calvin to replace Duran Duran at V

Calvin Harris is looking forward to his performance at the festival

Calvin Harris is to replace Duran Duran on the line-up for V Festival, it has been announced.

The Rio singers were forced to pull out of the August event due to lead singer Simon Le Bon's damage to his vocal chords.

Calvin said: "I can't wait to perform at V Festival - the crowds are always amazing in both Chelmsford and Stafford. It's going to be a lot of fun."

The Scottish DJ will now headline The Arena stage across the weekend of the August 20 and 21.

Also headlining the festival this year are Eminem, Rihanna, Arctic Monkeys, Plan B and Dizzee Rascal.

Duran Duran have been advised to postpone the tour indefinitely so Simon can pursue a course of physiotherapy treatment after damaging his vocal chords.

The 52-year-old singer said: "This couldn't have come at a worse time - but I am trying to be philosophical about my recovery as there's nothing else I can do."

Read the fine print on a contract. If you're not happy with the proposed terms of a deal, renegotiate. Don't be afraid to drive a hard bargain. You may not realise it, but you have a great deal of power. People are willing to pay good money for someone with your intelligence and experience. If you undersell yourself, you will set a dangerous precedent. Someone will ask you to do something that goes against your conscience. Obey your principles, even if it means making an enemy.More
