Carly Rae Jepsen has revealed she wants to be known as more than just a "songbird".
The pop princess, who found fame with the hit single Call Me Maybe, also told Canadian magazine Fashion that she doesn't want to be the next Britney Spears.
"Nobody can do Britney again. She did a great job at it. I just want to be the best Carly Rae I can be," she insisted.
The 26-year-old, who was given a sophisticated makeover by the mag, added: "I always wanted to be known as a songwriter and not just a songbird."
Carly Rae's first album Kiss is due for release next month and the singer - who is rumoured to be dating musician Matthew Koma - said the record is mainly about romance.
"(It's about) fascination with the complications of being attracted to something you shouldn't be," she explained.
"I definitely have a little attraction to bad guys, but they have to be sweethearts underneath. After all, I like to be treated well."
