Charlotte Church has revealed she is aiming to create beautiful music these days, rather than score chart hits.
The 24-year-old singer-songwriter - who rose to fame as the "Voice of an Angel" age 11 and then went on to pursue a pop career in her teens - has released new album Back To Scratch, which includes songs she co-wrote with new musician boyfriend Jonathan Powell.
Charlotte said: "It's all about the art and it's all about the beauty for me nowaways because I've done the commercial stuff, I'd love the art and the beauty to be commercial but it's not always like that and what matters to me more is making beautiful songs with really heartfelt lyrics, lovely melodies etc etc and so on."
The Welsh star revealed at the Q Awards she has been enjoying listening to the music of Iron And Wine, Mark Lanegan, Jeff Buckley and Laura Marling, and their work had inspired her.
She explained: "Because you just see how much beauty other people can create and that it doesn't always have to be commercial or mainstream."
