Classical Music 26/2/10
Brahms’ Piano Concerto No 2 will be played tonight by the outstanding young Irish pianist Finghin Collins with the Ulster Orchestra’s Principal Conductor Kenneth Montgomery.
Finghin Collins made his BBC Proms debut in London last year to great acclaim with the Ulster Orchestra. Finghin’s career now takes him to concerts all over the world. He has also received favourable comments for his first CDs.
Also featuring is Schumann’s Symphony No 2, which the Ulster Orchestra tells us is “a work of rejoicing dominated by trumpets and drums, and launching the Ulster Orchestra’s celebrations of Schumann’s birth exactly 200 years ago”.
The concert is tonight in the Ulster Hall at 7.45pm.
