Clyro drummer: I had no stop button

Ben Johnston of Biffy Clyro has admitted his drinking caused tensions within the band

Biffy Clyro's Ben Johnston has opened up about his battle with booze.

The 32-year-old drummer admitted he was drinking to the point where he would "black out" and that it had started to damage his relationship with his bandmate Simon Neil, reported NME.com.

He told Q: "I had no stop button. I would just keep going and black out."

The star, whose twin brother James Johnston is also in the band, continued: "Me and Simon massively drifted apart. It was me that was going to f*** it all up."

Ben suffered a blackout during a recording session in the US, and was found on the floor by bassist James.

The incident led him to start attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and he is now sober.

Biffy Clyro are set to release their new album, Opposites, later this month.
