Coldplay perform at Christmas party

Coldplay have surprised pub staff after they turned up to perform at a Christmas party.

Chris Martin and his bandmates took to the stage at the festive bash at the Ring O Bells in Compton Martin in Somerset, reported Metro.

They entertained staff, local residents and celebs including Lily Allen with hits such as Yellow, Clocks, Paradise and Christmas Lights.

The band were apparently asked to play the secret show by the pub's part owner Miles Leonard, who is the boss of their record company Warner Bros/Parlophone.

A message on the pub's Twitter said afterwards: "As you may have heard, we're extremely lucky and privileged to have hosted Parlephone and Warner Bros private party last night... And yes Coldplay performed along with some other great artists. It was an incredible evening and a once in a lifetime experience."
