Concert to mark VE Day anniversary

Chris Evans will host a concert marking the 70th anniversary of VE Day next month.

The event on Saturday May 9, complete with performances by Alfie Boe, Status Quo and Dad's Army star Ian Lavender, will be broadcast on BBC One and Radio 2.

Other performers include Britain's Got Talent winners Diversity, Jamelia, Katherine Jenkins and Pixie Lott.

The event, called VE Day 70: A Party To Remember, is being held at Horse Guards Parade in central London.

VE Day marked the end of the Second World War in Europe and the anniversary is being marked across the country over three days.

Other events include a reception for 2,000 veterans in St James's Park, London, a service of remembrance at The Cenotaph and a service of thanksgiving will be held at Westminster Abbey.
