Coolio auctioning song catalogue

Coolio is putting the rights to his entire back catalogue under the hammer - to fund his cooking career.

The 50-year-old rapper and actor has moved into the world of cuisine, publishing best-selling cookbook, Cookin' With Coolio in 2009.

Now the Gangsta's Paradise star - whose real name is Artis Leon Ivey, Jr - is offering the rights to all 123 of his songs in a sale on August 28, pop culture website avclub.com reported.

The bidding starts at 140,000 dollars for a back catalogue including global number one Gangsta's Paradise and other hits such as 1,2,3,4 (Sumpin' New), C U When U Get There and Rollin' With My Homies.

Coolio - who has appeared on the Food Network's Celebrity Chefs - intends to use the money to expand his series of cookery books, as well as his online food show, Cookin' With Coolio.
