Sheryl Crow has a benign brain tumour

Sheryl Crow has revealed that she has a benign brain tumour, but assured fans that it was just a "bump in the road".

The 50-year-old singer told an audience about her condition at a recent concert and went into more detail during an interview with CNN.

She said the tumour was discovered months ago, and while she doesn't need surgery she will have scans to monitor the growth.

The music star also reassured fans on her Facebook page: "Please don't worry about my 'brain tumour,' it's a noncancerous growth. I know some folks can have problems with this kind of thing, but I want to assure everyone I'm OK."

Her representative said the tumour is a meningioma, which is very common and typically benign, developing from the protective linings of the brain and spinal cord.

Sheryl battled breast cancer several years back. She's currently on a nationwide tour.
