Dad-to-be Robbie gets gig ultimatum

Robbie Williams has been talking about the imminent arrival of his baby

Robbie Williams has revealed his pregnant wife has told him to cancel his live gigs if she goes into labour - but he does not want to let down fans.

The singer told Radio 2 listeners they have had a minor "falling out" over the ultimatum ahead of his shows in the coming days.

Robbie - who is relaunching his solo career after a reunion with Take That - is to become a dad with his wife Ayda due to give birth to their first child in the next few weeks.

And he joked that he may fib to her to put her mind at rest when he heads out for his shows.

Robbie told Radio 2's Chris Evans: "I've had a bit of a falling out with the wife. I've got gigs this week. The baby could come at any minute. The wife has said if I go into labour 'and you've got a gig say in Leeds or Dublin, you've got to cancel it and come home'.

He went on: "Do you think my audience will go 'oh it's okay, his wife's pregnant - that's fine.' They won't will they?"

Chris, who had his own mad dash earlier this year when his wife Natasha went into labour while he was attending the Hay Festival, advised the singer to make contingency plans.

Robbie said: "This is what I am going to do - I'm going to tell her there is a helicopter behind the gig in Dublin - but that's expensive so I'm not really going to do it. I'm going to tell her that that's there and I'm going to keep my fingers crossed."

"The show must go on surely?" he added.

There is a chance this relationship is beyond redemption. If your former friend decides to keep their distance, you will have no other choice than to respect their feelings. Better luck next time.More
