Exactly 40 years after legendary Londonderry singer Dana shot to fame winning the Eurovision Song Contest, her niece is launching a pop career.

Roseanna Brown, who is a music and drama student at Royal Holloway College in Surrey and lives in nearby Windsor, is currently recording her debut album and will shortly release her first single Only You.

At 20, Roseanna is less than two years older than Dana was when she won Eurovision for Ireland in 1970 with the song All Kinds Of Everything.

Roseanna’s father is Dana’s second youngest brother John Brown (55). Their youngest sibling, Gerry, will share management of Roseanna with Dana.

Dana said: “Roseanna is a very gifted musician with a great individual-sounding voice. She’s also a lovely person who’s not afraid to work hard and take advice when needed. I’m very proud of my niece and will do all I can to help her fulfil her dreams.”

Proud dad John added: “Like Dana, Roseanna is always at ease performing, and she has the same spark.”

”I’ve always wanted to sing,” said Roseanna, who can play piano, guitar, violin and flute.

“My aunt Rosemary (Dana) has been my biggest inspiration.

“She’s always encouraged my singing and I share her passion for music and love of performing. When I listen to her CDs and see film of her performing over the years, I think ‘If she can do that, why not me?’ Maybe we can even duet and tour together one day.”
