Depp records with Sheeran and Malik

Johnny Depp has been spotted in a recording studio with Ed Sheeran

Johnny Depp has been spotted visiting a recording studio with Ed Sheeran and One Direction's Zayn Malick.

The Lone Ranger star - who plays the guitar and has previously released a solo album - prompted speculation he could be working on a new music venture after he and The A Team singer Ed were spotted arriving at a recording studio in Los Angeles, NME reported.

And Alexander DeLeon, a member of US band The Cab, uploaded a picture of himself with the 1D's Zayn and Pirates Of The Caribbean hunk Johnny in a studio with the caption "Pirate lessons from the one and only. Thanks for having us, Mr Depp."

The 50-year-old film star joined rock band The Kids when he was a high school student in Miramar, Florida, and moved to Los Angeles with them in search of a record deal. After the band broke up, he decided to pursue a career in acting, although he has retained his passion in music. He has recorded a solo album and played guitar on two Oasis songs, as well as on Chocolat and Once Upon A Time In Mexico soundtracks.

Last December he joined Aerosmith on stage at a show in LA - just days after rocking out with Alice Cooper.

Johnny recently hinted he may be ready to give up acting.
