Dion helps protege with Vegas show
Celine Dion is helping her protege Veronic DiCaire open her own show in Las Vegas.
The Canadian singer, comedian and impersonator's Voices show includes hilarious impersonations of Madonna, Lady Gaga, Adele, Tina Turner and Britney Spears. Celine and her husband Rene Angelil are helping co-produce the show for Sin City this summer, Vegas.com reported.
Veronic said: "I am very excited to present my new show. I feel the timing is great for this new kind of tribute and the team that Rene and Celine have put together is world class... I couldn't ask for a better opportunity. Las Vegas is the perfect playground for what I do and I can't wait to start!"
Celine - who has been a resident performer in Las Vegas herself for 10 years - spotted Veronic's talent early on, and invited the young singer to support her on her 2008 Taking Chances tour.
Veronic started out in musical theatre in Canada and after releasing two French language albums went on to perform at comedy festivals, where she perfected her unusual mix of comedy and music. Last year she became a judge on the French X Factor.
She will make her US debut on Katie Couric's daytime talk show on April 25 and her Voices show will run at Bally's casino from June to August.
