DJ Fresh's cat loves Kick-Ass tune

DJ Fresh has revealed he tested out the theme to Kick-Ass 2 by playing it to his cat.

The star behind Louder and Hot Right Now's new single Earthquake is used in film Kick-Ass 2 and he told the Daily Star he'd enlisted an unusual critic - his cat, Mama.

He said: "Mama is a strange cat. She looks 30 degrees off to the side when she wants to look at you. I really enjoyed myself, testing out Earthquake's beat drops. Mama started twitching and it was so funny watching her that I thought 'I must be doing something right'."

DJ Fresh made the single with Rihanna's producer Diplo and used vocals from Dominque Young Unique, although she wasn't the first rapper to feature on the track.

He said: "We sent the beat to Angel Haze, but she posted it on Soundcloud without telling me or Diplo, and she'd turned it into one big diss at Azealia Banks.

"I've got nothing against Azealia, but people were going, 'It's your track, you must be involved.' To avoid any confusion, we needed to get a new rapper and Dominque's tracks are amazing."

DJ Fresh will be working on Linkin Park's new album next and is playing V Festival in August.

He said: "Playing live has helped me as my band can tell me if a show has gone well. When you DJ, you have no-one to ask, 'Was that any good?' It's helped me to become more of a performer, and now I perform more even if it's just a DJ set."
