Drake triumphs at MTV Woodie Awards

Drake has won top honours at MTV's annual South By Southwest-based awards show.

The Canadian rapper-singer-actor won Woodie of the Year, given to music's top emerging artist, during the Woodie Awards in Austin, Texas. Lil Wayne accepted the award for Drake.

The 1975 took the breaking Woodie for best new artist. Chance the Rapper got best video Woodie for Everybody's Something and Ed Sheeran earned the performing Woodie.

Other winners included Beyonce, lauded for her guerrilla album release last December, and ASAP Rocky and Skrillex who won for their collaboration Wild For The Night.

The awards show featured performances by The 1975, Childish Gambino, Charli XCX and Iggy Azalea and will air on MTV.
