Duffy: We gave Jessie her start!

Man Like Me are supporting Jessie Ware on one date of her tour

Man Like Me stars Johnny Langer and Peter Duffy have joked that Jessie Ware "needs to remember where she started".

The pair are supporting Jessie at one date on her tour, but she used to be the singer in Man Like Me.

Peter said: "She'd seen us at a friend of a friend's party or something, and asked us to her party on the back of that. Jack Penate was DJing too, who is a mutual friend. Jessie was very different back then, I thought she was a princess having this glitzy party. Little did we know she was harbouring this amazing talent."

Johnny added: "We were talking, drunk, at another party and she told us she wanted to sing. We must've asked her to come to a rehearsal and not remembered because we were shocked when she turned up the following day. We didn't expect her to be any good, but when she started to sing, she was brilliant."

Asked how they feel about her success, Johnny joked: "I'm very bitter, yes. There's not a day goes by I don't slag her off!"

Peter laughed: "We got a message from some Twitter account this morning, 'Jessie Ware Fans' or something. She's got a fansite! It's like a daily kick in the teeth."

He added: "And we booked her first solo show, so she needs to remember where she started!"

:: Man Like Me begin a UK tour on March 8 in Southampton, and tour throughout the month. For more information, visit www.manlikeme.net. Their second album, Pillow Talk, is out now.
