Emeli Sande tops UK iTunes chart

Emeli Sande has seen her career soar since winning the Critics' Choice Award at this year's Brits

Olympic opener Emeli Sande has topped the UK iTunes chart with the best-selling album of the year.

The singer-songwriter, who performed at both the opening and closing ceremonies of the London 2012 Games, got top spot with her debut Our Version Of Events.

That was followed by Ed Sheeran's +, Lana Del Rey's Born To Die and Adele's 21, with Now That's What I Call Music! 82 the fifth highest seller.

Emeli has seen her career soar since winning the Critics' Choice Award at this year's Brits and picking up a hat-trick of Mobo awards.

Gotye's Somebody That I Used To Know was the best-selling song on iTunes in the UK this year, followed by Carly Rae Jepson's Call Me Maybe and We Are Young by Fun.

Emeli also featured on that chart - taking the final place in the top 10 with Next To Me.

There was more success for Adele, whose album 21 was the best-selling album for US users of the site.

The record, including hits Rolling In The Deep and Someone Like You, topped the same chart last year.

The best-selling UK iPhone app was the WhatsApp Messenger which allows people to send instant messages on their smartphones.

If you're not able to provide them with the luxuries they crave, there will be problems. Then again, you have the potential for being a good provider, so all may be well.More
