Fatboy Slim to play gig at Belfast's newest concert venue

Superstar DJ Fatboy Slim is to bring his big beats to Belfast when he stages a massive show at the city’s latest concert venue this spring.

Four years on from his highly successful Portrush beach party, Fatboy Slim, aka Norman Cook, is returning to the province to rock the new Giant’s Park in north Belfast.

Situated at the North Foreshore of Belfast Lough, the 220,000 acre park was previously home to a landfill site.

But on May 8 this year, Fatboy Slim will make history when he becomes the first artist to play there.

Up to 20,000 revellers are expected to descend upon the outdoor venue for the party, which will also feature performances by Deadmau5, Kissy Sell Out, Zane Lowe, Sidney Samson and Cagedbaby.

In 2006 the seaside town of Portrush was the venue for the dance DJ’s first outdoor bash. It attracted tens of thousands of clubbers and helped boost the local economy.

Promoter Eddie Wray said: “This is one of our proudest moments so far — to finally bring the legendary Fatboy Slim and a host of top guests to an exciting new Belfast concert site. I can't wait.”

Tickets, £39.95 plus booking fees (standard) and £64.95 plus booking fees (VIP) go on sale at 9am today, from Ticketmaster, www.plmpromotions.com and independent outlets.
