Lady Gaga has provoked controversy among her millions of Twitter followers after writing that "pop singers don't eat".
The Telephone singer was accused of promoting a negative message and encouraging eating disorders after posting the message following a trip to the gym.
Gaga wrote: "Just killed back to back spin classes. Eating a salad dreaming of a cheeseburger #PopSingersDontEat #IWasBornThisWay."
But followers hit out at the star's words, with one writing: "I'm stunned that you would promote such an unhealthy attitude towards food to your fans when you claim to be so righteous."
Another stated: "Why would you even promote a message like that? Disgusting that you'd joke about such a serious illness."
Others, however, supported the star. One fan tweeted: "But it's so true... our society likes to see fit bodies... it's not healthy I know but it's just the truth."
Gaga, meanwhile, is set to jet off to Korea to perform at Seoul's Olympic Stadium later this month.
The eccentric star has also announced dates at London's Twickenham Stadium on September 8 this year and at Manchester Arena on September 11.
