Geldof: I wrote worst Christmas hit

Sir Bob Geldof is sick of hearing his Christmas song

Bob Geldof has revealed he considers his Christmas hit Do They Know It's Christmas? one of the worst songs ever written.

The Irish singer and father-of-four, who co-wrote the charity single with Midge Ure for Band Aid in 1984, has confessed he dreads hearing the song played everywhere during the festive season.

Bob told the Australian Daily Telegraph: "I am responsible for two of the worst songs in history.

"The other one is We Are The World. Any day soon, I will go to the supermarket, head to the meat counter and it will be playing. Every f**k ing Christmas."

And the 59-year-old former Boom Town Rat has no escape, as he revealed carol singers even include his hit in their repertoire, along with traditional Christmas carols, when they visit his home. He said: "They think Do They Know It's Christmas is as old as Silent Night. Sometimes I think that's wild because I wrote it. Or else I am thinking how much I want them to stop because they are doing it really badly."
