Gillian Gilbert has said New Order will be quicker off the mark in releasing new music this time around.
The New Order keyboardist, guitarist and singer said the band's work ethic had changed since getting back together.
Asked whether they were writing new songs, Gillian said: "What stage are we normally at? We're waiting on Bernard [Sumner]! But it's sunny this week, so he can't possibly write when it's sunny. Hopefully we're going to get stuck in, when the kids go back to school in September.
"We also want to do things now. We don't want to be like the old New Order and keep everyone waiting for years, we want to be the new New Order. We're not doing an LP, we're doing an EP. We've been writing in short bursts, so we'll just work on four songs at a time instead of waiting another two years to finish an album."
Despite cracking on with writing new songs, Gillian admitted she wouldn't be surprised if New Order split again.
On whether things would come to an end again, she said: "Probably. I don't know. You can never tell with New Order. Just when you think the band is coming to an end, it takes off again.
"We've got no shows in the UK for the rest of the year after Jodrell Bank, and then we'll see what happens next year after we've done this writing."
