Girls Aloud are to support Coldplay on a double date at Wembley Stadium.

The record-breaking girl group, featuring Londonderry’s own Nadine Coyle, will support Coldplay on September 18 and 19, 2009.

Hip-hop star Jay-Z, who played Glastonbury this year, will support the band on the other tour dates, including Old Trafford Cricket Ground and Hampden Park.

It is understood Coldplay’s frontman Chris Martin is a fan of Girls Aloud and was keen to have them on board. Tickets for the September 19 show have already sold out.

Coldplay play Belfast twice this month, while Girls Aloud play the Odyssey Arena three times in April. The girls will be in the city from Tuesday April 28 to Thursday April 30.
