Gomez announces tour cancellation

Selena Gomez says she's always put her work first

Selena Gomez has cancelled her tour of Asia and Australia - to spend time on herself.

The singer's Stars Dance tour was set to travel to the region, with dates in Japan, China, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines and Down Under, in the New Year, according to Billboard.

But the 21-year-old actress issued a statement through promoter Live Nation saying that she needed to spend more time on "myself", to be a better person.

"My fans are so important to me and I would never want to disappoint them," the former Disney star said.

"But it has become clear to me and those close to me that after many years of putting my work first, I need to spend some time on myself in order to be the best person I can be.

"To my fans, I sincerely apologise and I hope you guys know how much each and every one of you mean to me," Justin Bieber's ex-girlfriend added.
