Gomez hits US number one album spot

Selena Gomez has topped the US album charts for the first time

Selena Gomez has had her first number one album in the US with Stars Dance.

The Spring Breakers actress knocked Jay-Z's Magna Carta Holy Grail off the number one spot, where it had been for two weeks in the official Billboard charts.

She has released three other albums with her band The Scene which have made the top 10, but this is Selena's first time as America's number one.

Stars Dance is thought to have sold around 97,000 copies in its first week, thanks to the success of hit single Come and Get It.

Former Disney star Selena talked to CNN recently about making music with a more mature sound for Stars Dance.

She said: "The past year and a half has been really transitional for me, just personally, as well as transitioning into becoming a woman. I still feel like I'm 15 sometimes and then other times, I'm wanting to feel comfortable in my body and my skin.

"I was able to have full creative control over it. Before, I would have maybe a month or two to record an album, and I'd have to do my series at the same time and tour on the weekends. I wasn't in the right mindset to fully give my all."

Scorpio:

You have to make some personal sacrifices to achieve career success. If you're going to lead a team to victory, you will have to be hard on the less industrious members of the group. As a result, you won't be terribly popular. Many will complain about your methods, but nobody can argue with the results of your work. You know how to get the best performance from the people around you. That's a rare quality that should be championed. You should be gentler with people in your private life.More
