Gomez: I learned a lot from Swift

Selena Gomez met Taylor Swift when they both dated Jonas brothers

Selena Gomez has told how she is guided by best friend Taylor Swift in her career and personal life.

The former Wizards Of Waverly Place star has been close to pop star Taylor since they met when they were both dating members of the Jonas Brothers, with Selena romancing Nick and Taylor stepping out with Joe.

And Selena told the Herald Sun she has picked up lots of tips from Taylor along the way.

"Taylor and I dated Jonas brothers together," she said.

" We met when she was 18. I was 15 or 16. She was so great to me. Then we became best friends. She would fly out to see me when I was going through something really hard. We'd eat a lot of fattening food and vent. I learnt a lot from her. She's an amazing musician.

"Everything I go through or say is filtered through her eyes and vision."

Selena, 21, also revealed she has learned a lot from her latest tour.

"I've done this entire tour on my own, I didn't have my parents with me, I was completely single," said the Slow Down singer.

"I've really grown, it's been good for me. Now I have a lot more to say."
