Green Day call off 2012 dates

Green Day have cancelled the rest of their 2012 club schedule

Green Day are cancelling the rest of their 2012 club schedule and postponing the start of their 2013 arena tour.

Last month it was revealed that the band's frontman Billie Joe Armstrong was entering rehab for treatment for substance abuse.

Bass player Mike Dirnt said Billie Joe's "well-being is our main concern" in the band's decision to clear the schedule through to February 8.

He said in a statement that the star is doing well in his attempt to shake substance abuse problems that emerged after the singer-guitarist had a profane meltdown onstage in Las Vegas.

The Grammy-winning stars also moved up the release date of Tre, the third instalment in a trilogy of albums released over a period of months. The album will be released on December 11, more than a month ahead of schedule.
