Hallelujah! Leonard Cohen’s in Belfast
Saturday, 18 July 2009
Leonard Cohen was due back in Ireland this weekend to begin a series of gigs in Dublin and Belfast.
The legendary singer/songwriter will kick off the Irish gigs at the O2 in Dublin tomorrow and will play a number of concerts at the venue, before heading north next weekend.
Cohen will be at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast on Sunday, July 26 in what is expected to be one of the most unforgettable shows of the year.
Last year Cohen’s World Tour proved to be a hit ticket.
More recently, the BBC paid tribute to the artist by dedicating an evening to him and his music by broadcasting footage from the tour.
Fans can expect to hear all Cohen’s most famous songs including Dance Me To The End Of Love, Bird on the Wire, Hey, That’s No Way To Say Goodbye, and of course, Hallelujah, the song which has been covered by countless artists including the late Jeff Buckley and more recently X Factor winner Alexandra Burke.
The Canadian legend counts U2, REM, Sting, Nick Cave and Rufus Wainwright among his fans.

I was privileged to be at Leonard Cohen's concert in the Liverpool Echo Arena 14th July 2009, and a three hour set seemed to be over in a trice. A well-practised and thoroughly professional set of musicians made a wonderful job of entertaining a packed audience. Three encors later we knew we had been granted a rare opportunity to see a poetic legend in fine fettle. What a splendid show! Thanks LC et al.
