Hathaway's Les Mis single in Top 40

Anne Hathaway's version of I Dreamed A Dream is at number 21 in the charts

Hollywood star Anne Hathaway looks set for her first chart hit after her version of I Dreamed A Dream from the film version of Les Miserables climbed into the Top 40.

Midweek sales figures released by the official charts company show the actress is at number 21 in the single charts, with her co-star Samantha Barks, who plays Eponine in the film, at number 38 with her performance of On My Own.

The whole cast have another hit on their hands with the film's soundtrack topping the midweek album charts ahead of Emeli Sande's Our Version of Events.

The film has been a massive critical and commercial success, with an Oscar nomination for best picture, while Anne, who plays Fantine, is nominated for an Oscar for best supporting actress and her co-star Hugh Jackman is nominated for the best actor award.

The battle for number one pits US rapper 50 Cent, whose My Life tops the midweek chart, against another new entry, Justin Timberlake, whose Suit and Tie featuring Jay-Z is new in at number three.
