Ice-T has told how he was surprised by Eminem during the filming of Something From Nothing: The Art Of Rap.
The 54-year-old rapper - whose real name is Tracy Marrow - interviewed his favourite artists such as Dr Dre, Kanye West and Eminem for his directorial film debut, but it was the 8 Mile star that stood out.
"He was difficult to get because of his schedule, but once I got to him, I was with him all day. Eminem was really deep, he started to talk about personal issues, about overdosing and things a lot of people don't know," recalled Ice-T.
"He spoke on Treach, which was very interesting. Treach is known to be one of the best rappers ever, but you know, who would have thought that he was Eminem's inspiration?"
Ice-T, who is reuniting with rap royalty Raekwon, Chuck D and Melle Mel at the European premiere of his movie at London's Hammersmith Apollo, wanted to make a film that explains the craft and skill of rapping.
"I always wanted to direct a movie. It was kind of like the rap scene had changed tremendously and become very pop. I felt that people were losing the true meaning of rap," he said.
"My intent with the film was to try to let people see the hip-hop that I was involved in - when it was raw."
Something From Nothing: The Art Of Rap is out on July 20.
