It's a family affair as Sinead O'Connor's daughter joins her for duet
It was a family affair when singer Sinead O'Connor performed in Dublin last night.
The 45-year-old was joined on stage by her daughter Roisin (15) for several songs during her set in the Olympia Theatre.
Mother and daughter were watched by Sinead's fourth husband Barry Herridge, who had a seat in the upper circle.
However, while the therapist had been happy to pose for the cameras when he wed Ms O'Connor in the Little White Chapel in Vegas earlier this month, he was keeping a low profile last night.
Wearing a nondescript leather jacket and scarf, he declined to pose when he entered the theatre through a side door, 20 minutes before his wife was due on stage.
Ms O'Connor explained on her website in recent days how, because her husband was a "therapist working with very young adolescents" he "must maintain a low profile".
She said this was "very important for the healing of his clients and for his work generally that he keep a low profile."
But the 38-year-old's wife captured most of the attention last night performing older hits and new material from upcoming studio album 'How About I Be Me (And You Be You)?'
Despite whatever controversies Ms O'Connor gets herself into, the moment she opens her mouth, they are all forgotten.
And it was the same last night she appeared on stage.
Highlights of the show included 'Lay Your Head Down', with lyrics by actress Glenn Close, which was nominated for a Golden Globe awards last week in the Best Original Song category for film 'Albert Nobbs'.
Delivered with just her vocal and a bar keyboard line, another track -- 'What is a real VIP' -- took a chilling aim at Bono for being photographed with the late Pontiff Pope John Paul II in lines -- "Getting our pictures taken with the Pope. Like some sick April fool kind of joke" -- while not speaking out about the clerical abuse.
It is now over 20 years since Ms O'Connor's biggest hit 'Nothing Compares 2 U', but when it was delivered towards the end of her set last night, it proved still as affecting.
