James Arthur lagging in chart race

James Arthur is hoping for a number one
James Arthur is hoping for a number one

James Arthur is falling behind in the race for the number one spot in the singles charts this week.

The singer's new track You're Nobody 'Til Somebody Loves You - his first single since he won The X Factor last year - is lagging behind little known New Zealander Lorde.

Her single Royals is outselling James' song by around 7,000 copies according to mid-week sales figures from the Official Charts Company.

Simon Cowell has given James' new single his backing, tweeting: "Really excited about @JamesArthur23's new single, it deserves to be a number 1 record."

But James did not perform his new track on the show at the weekend, as most of the past winners have done. If he had it would have given his single a huge boost.

Instead, James just appeared briefly on the show to chat to host Dermot O'Leary, and on spin-off show The Xtra Factor.

He has tweeted: "Holding strong at number 2, but I'd really love a number 1!"

You're determined to get your agenda met, even if it means being loud and difficult. The prospect of creating friction does not bother you at all. You'd rather put people in an uncomfortable position than accept their inflexible position. By stirring up enough publicity, you could exert enough pressure to create some changes. A new set of rules will allow you to move forward with a brilliant plan. You'll get the full support of an influential executive who is tired of the old guard.More
