Jason ready to draw line under 80s

Jason Donovan is happy to revisit the 80s, but thinks it may soon be time to move on

Jason Donovan has said it would soon be time for him to "move on" from the 80s era when he shot to fame.

The radio DJ, who became a household name in Australian television soap Neighbours, is set to perform in a series of concerts alongside other singers from the decade.

Speaking at a press conference in London, Jason said it was great to "reconnect" with what was an "emotional period" in his life.

But he revealed he would soon seek to "draw a line" and focus on future projects.

"It's good to reconnect and there's a sentimentality about the 80s," he said.

"But when I've done this tour I think it might be time to draw a line and move on."

Jason, 42, who has recently released an album of hits from the decade, said he would look to record new songs.

But he insisted he was happy to be linked to the era. He said: "Being associated with that period is great. It's an opportunity to reconnect with an emotional period in my life.

"Music is an incredibly emotional thing and it gives people great memories."

Jason will join acts including Boy George, Belinda Carlisle, Jimmy Somerville and Midge Ure on the Here And Now tour, which starts in Birmingham on June 24 and ends in Brighton on July 2. There are also dates in London, Newcastle, Sheffield, Liverpool and Manchester.
