Jenkins 'nearly missed OBE letter'

Katherine Jenkins was made an OBE in the Queen's New Year Honours list

Katherine Jenkins has revealed she could have missed out on her OBE - because her official letter was delivered to the wrong house.

The Welsh opera singer said the letter telling her she was being made an OBE in the Queen's New Year Honours list was accidentally sent to her mum's neighbour, and she didn't find out about it until she picked up her post when she went home before Christmas.

WalesOnline quoted Katherine as saying: "My mum had been handed the letter by her neighbour as it had been posted there by mistake.

"Imagine if it had been there for a while or that my mum hadn't given it to me straight away - she often receives post which she keeps for me.

"The letter had an official stamp on the front and I couldn't believe it when I opened it and it said I was being awarded an OBE. It said that I couldn't tell anyone but had to call immediately to accept it. Luckily I got the letter in time."

Katherine, 33, received the honour for her services to music and charity.

Virgo:

It's difficult to deal with a highly competitive colleague. Every time you submit work, they try to find ways to outperform you. Although you have no interest in pitting your talent against theirs, this other person thinks very differently. Ignoring them won't be possible. A good way to disarm this pest is to invite them out for coffee. Describe what you've observed and ask for a truce. Irrational people are often thrown off balance when their behaviour is addressed in a direct manner.More
