Jennifer Lopez: It broke my heart to cut songs

Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lopez says it broke her heart to remove songs from her upcoming album.

The singer-and-actress is currently promoting her comeback album Love?, which has received positive reviews from critics so far. The 41-year-old has already unleashed the pumping single On the Floor from the album to great success, and is pleased that her hard work and dedication has paid off.

Having taken a break from the music industry, Jennifer believes she has returned with a strong album for her fans, safe in the knowledge that the finished product is exactly how she intended.

“It’s funny I have been working on this album for the last couple of years and it’s an important project to me, and there is no reason at this point of my career for me to put out anything I don’t believe in 100%,” she told the BBC.

Jennifer, who can currently be seen judging future stars on US show American Idol, has admitted she had to be ruthless when deciding which songs made the grade. With over two years of material she says it was a difficult decision to axe certain tracks.

“I’m very proud of the album; it’s so hard to edit it because over the past two years I have recorded maybe 20 songs and of course I’m not going to put 20 songs on an album, so to cut out eight to ten of those... it’s breaking my heart. But the interest of making a great piece of work makes it exciting,” she added.
