Jepsen bonded with beau over Cohen

Carly Rae Jepsen and her boyfriend both love Leonard Cohen

Carly Rae Jepsen has revealed she and her music producer boyfriend Matthew Koma bonded over their love of Canadian singer Leonard Cohen.

The Call Me Maybe singer is dating the American pop rocker after they worked together on her second album Kiss, and told Radio.com that one of the first things they found they had in common was being fans of the Hallelujah singer.

Carly revealed: "I have a songwriter crush on Leonard Cohen... I grew up loving him.

"Actually, believe it or not, with my boyfriend Matthew Koma, that was one of our first clicks.

"We're driving home, and we're both making a pop record together. And he's asking me who my favourites are and I'm like, 'Leonard Cohen,' and he's like, 'Are you kidding me?' That's one of his favourites, too. That was our first kind of spark right there."

The 27-year-old actress also revealed she is a "total musical theatre buff".

Carly said: "Little known fact, I actually went to musical theatre college and trained with the idea that I wanted to be on Broadway one day. And then I got a guitar and went, 'No I want to write songs'."
