Jessie J lights up Oxford Street

Jessie J has revealed it was a "dream come true" to switch on the Christmas lights on London's Oxford Street.

The It's My Party singer, who flipped the switch for the festive lights with 2012 X Factor winner James Arthur and singer Conor Maynard, admitted it was an honour to return to the site, near where she used to work as a shop assistant, before she performed her songs, Thunder and Price Tag.

She said before the show: "I'm so excited. I just finished my tour last night so I feel like this is the perfect way to celebrate. And how better to spend it with Londoners on the famous street I used to work at? I'm very excited to be able to turn on the lights and set the Christmas party off."

The 25-year-old added: "I always used to make my parents bring me to Oxford Street to see the Christmas lights so it's an honour to actually be switching them on this year. The lights switch-on is a prestigious part of the festive season for Londoners and I'm proud to be a part of it."

The Christmas lights, hosted by Selfridges, marks the official start of the festive season in the West End.
