Jewel challenged by acting role

Matt Ross as Johnny Cash and Jewel as June Carter Cash in TV movie Ring of Fire

Jewel has revealed she drew on her musical experience to play Johnny Cash's wife June Carter Cash in US TV biopic Ring Of Fire.

The You Were Meant For Me plays the country star in the film based on the book about June's life, Anchored in Love, written by her son John Carter Cash.

Jewel said: "It would have been very difficult to do if I hadn't written songs and known what my process was, I had no idea what it was like for her to write. So I just had to write like I did."

The singer also admitted feeling added pressure as Reese Witherspoon won an Oscar for the role of June in Johnny Cash biopic Walk The Line.

Jewel said: "I was aware that her winning the Oscar would put a lot of pressure on me. She hit a high standard, so I knew I had to hit at least as high a standard because I would be compared to that. But I like that kind of pressure.

"I think that's one of the reasons that I took the job, because I knew it would be a difficult role - not just because of Reese winning the Oscar, but because it was a difficult script. I had to have a full-on breakdown. It wasn't just a sweet love story."

Virgo:

Read the fine print on a contract. If you're not happy with the proposed terms of a deal, renegotiate. Don't be afraid to drive a hard bargain. You may not realise it, but you have a great deal of power. People are willing to pay good money for someone with your intelligence and experience. If you undersell yourself, you will set a dangerous precedent. Someone will ask you to do something that goes against your conscience. Obey your principles, even if it means making an enemy.More
