Pop duo Joe and Jake were given an "amazing" reception at Eurovision In Concert 2016 on Saturday night in the Netherlands.

The United Kingdom's representatives performed entry song You're Not Alone at the biggest Eurovision promotional event of the year.

It is the first time they have given a rendition of the song on an international stage.

Joe Woolford and Jake Shakeshaft, former rivals on talent series The Voice UK, are working hard to drum up support ahead of the competition next month.

After their performance, the singers posted a selfie on Twitter which featured the audience in the background.

The tweet was captioned: "AMAZING crowd, Thank you so much! We love you Amsterdam #EurovisioninConcert #JoeandJake."

Woolford called the event "fun", while Shakeshaft said everyone had been "so welcoming".

"What an amazing taste of Stockholm we've had so far here at Eurovision in Concert in Amsterdam!" Shakeshaft enthused.

"Everyone really is so welcoming. People seemed to really get into the song too which is a nice sign - turns out we are not alone."

Woolford added: "It's the first time we have sung the song on an international stage. People were waving their flags and really getting into it. We are so pleased!"

He continued: "We've met loads of the other participants too including Ovidiu from Romania, who is also funny and awesome, and we've been teaching Douwe Bob from The Netherlands some rhyming slang. It's such fun."

The next stop on Joe and Jake's promotional tour of You're Not Alone is Israel.

They will head back to the UK for the Graham Norton show on Friday night.

:: The grand final of the Eurovision Song Contest will take place in Stockholm on May 14.
