Justin Timberlake's former N*Sync bandmates had no idea he was making his music comeback.

The 31-year-old star has released a new single, Suit And Tie, featuring Jay-Z, which is his first musical offering since 2006's critically acclaimed FutureSex/LoveSounds, and is due to follow it up with a solo album.

His former bandmate Lance Bass told Us Weekly the group had no idea.

"He's been so busy and even hid from us that he did an album, so I was as surprised as everyone else that he released this new music," he said.

"He's been busy with that, so we haven't really been able to catch up."

Lance also chatted about the fact that 90s boy bands New Kids On The Block, 98 Degrees and Boys II Men are teaming up for a tour, but suggested it isn't on the cards for his group.

He said: "We're all just very content with what's happening in our lives right now and we don't want to get burnt out again. Hopefully in the next few years we can do something, but I think right now isn't the time for us."
