Justin Bieber has spoken out about allegations that he has fathered an illegitimate love child with a 20-year-old fan.
The fresh-faced teenager, who is due to arrive in Belfast in the next 24 hours ahead of his MTV EMAs performance, took to Twitter to tell his fans that he is paying no attention to the claims and that he intends to concentrate on his music.
The 17-year-old heart-throb made his statement on Twitter on the same day that one of his fans, Mariah Yeater, was pictured on the cover of US celebrity magazine Star with Bieber's alleged son, Tristyn Anthony Markhouse Yeater, who was born on July 6.
She made the claim in a paternity suit filed on Monday in LA. A spokesman for Bieber's legal team said it would “vigorously pursue all available legal remedies to defend and protect Justin against these new allegations”.
Bieber, who is dating EMAs hostess Selena Gomez, posted on Twitter: “So I'm going to ignore the rumours ... and focus on what is real, an opportunity to help by doing what I love. Judge me on the music! Love yall!”
The popstar seemed unfazed by the claims as he took to the stage to perform on Dancing With The Stars.
He will make his Northern Irish debut on Sunday when he performs at the EMAs and is also due to pick up one of the inaugural MTV Voices awards for the work he has done for various charities.
