Katy Perry helps fund TLC album
Katy Perry has forked out thousands of dollars to help fund a new album from US girl group TLC.
According to TMZ, the Roar singer contributed 5,000 dollars (£3,293) to the Kickstarter campaign to get a new album off the ground.
Thanks in part to Katy, group members T-Boz and Chilli have now generated the 150,000 dollars (£98,000) they needed.
Chilli wrote on her Twitter page: "Wow @katyperry...thanks so much for pledging!"
T-Boz wrote: "A big special thank you to @katyperry for her pledge to our #Kickstarter Campaign! You're awesome!"
She later added: "I get off the plane to find out not only did we reach our goal but we're the fastest most funded pop project in Kickstarter history!"
TLC wrote on their Kickstarter page that it would be their last album.
"While major labels offer artists multimillion dollar recording and marketing budgets, they don't often give artists complete control of their own music," they wrote.
"It is essential that we create our final album completely on our own terms, without any restrictions, with you."
A donation the size of Katy's is rewarded with a slumber party in LA with T-Boz or Chilli in Atlanta.
But Katy might be too busy - preparing to perform at the Super Bowl half-time show in February.
