Keith Duffy: I miss Boyzone back-up

Keith Duffy misses being part of a group while competing in Splash!

Boyzone star Keith Duffy has confessed he misses the "safety" of being in a group competing on diving competition Splash!

The Irish singer has reached the final of the ITV show - along with Diversity's Perri Kiely, TOWIE star Dan Osborne and Paralympic athlete Richard Whitehead - and is starting to get nervous ahead of Saturday night's dive.

Keith revealed: "Boyzone is shared amongst my best friends in the world and this a solo project for me.

"It's nice to do something on your own, but at the same time I'm getting to the stage now where I kind of miss the lads and I'm looking forward to getting back together with them now.

"When Splash! is finished we'll be releasing a new song and we'll be back on TV performing together again. So it will be nice to back within the safety of a group and not be lonely on my own."

The former Coronation Street star confessed: "I don't think I'm going to come first in Splash! but I'm in the final, so that's a huge achievement. Getting this far is great. When you're putting in those kind of hours of training it's nice to know you've gone the whole distance."

He added: "It hasn't really been a competition, it's been vigorous training, it's been learning a new discipline. So you're coming away with a new skill, rather than just a performance, and that's been really enjoyable."

Meanwhile, Perri is battling against illness to be fit for Saturday's final.

The Diversity star, one of the favourites to win the ITV celebrity show, has missed training after falling ill.

A show insider said he had "a sickness bug" but was confident he would make the final, saying: "He's been a real star this series and is desperate not to let his fans down."
