Keys to be honoured in Bet special

Alicia Keys will be presented with the rock star award

Alicia Keys and Dionne Warwick are to be honoured in a Black Entertainment Television special.

Chart-topper Alicia will receive the rock star award during the Black Girls Rock! show, while songstress Dionne will be honoured as a living legend.

Scandal actress Kerry Washington will be presented with the star power award.

The ceremony will be held on October 13 in New York City, with actresses Tracee Ellis Ross and Regina King returning as hosts. The Bet special will appear on the network in November.

The awards are an offshoot of the organisation Black Girls Rock!, created by DJ Beverly Bond to promote positive images of black women.
